R20 000 RAISED ALREADY!
The RRC school for girls is a government organisation that caters for disfunctional children with learning difficulties, behavioural problems, mostly arising out of abused homes. The kids are 5-13 and live at the hostel from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoons manned by a very thin staff compliment. The kids are counselled, educated and cared for by wonderful caring people - their wish for them being that this is their stability as they are returned into the system.
In late 2009, the government has given them under 2 months to transform the predominently boys facility into a girls only school. Our project is to redecorate these hostel rooms into a loving and homely space for these girls to start the new school next year. Each room has 4 beds - our drive is R1250 per child to kit them out with a new duvet and cover, fitted sheet, pillow and cover, mirrot, toiletery bag with contents, cusion, bean bag, 1 litre of paint per room to brighten 1 wall and a picture. There are a total of 15 rooms that we would like to convert in 2010.
